Do Concrete Countertops Crack?
Hairline cracks and slight irregularities are a natural part of the concrete, however, they will not affect the structural integrity in the slightest and such fine cracks are also too narrow to trap food and debris. Hairline cracks can be patched and,in countertops that have visible aggregate, become practically invisible. Most people choose concrete for its industrial beauty which comes with imperfections...if you are looking for something that is perfect in color with no variation that will not "patina" with time...then you should think about other options than concrete. such as the unvarying smoothness of plastic products such as Corian and Formica. No matter what reinforcing method is used, hairline cracks may still occur. The hairline cracks are non-structural and should be considered part of the character of each slab.
